April 10, 2024 - The Future of Gas

Wednesday, April 10, 2024 (3:00 PM - 4:00 PM) (CDT)

Description

The Illinois Commerce Commission has opened a series of workshops entitled “The Future of Gas” that will explore what role natural gas will play in the energy landscape in the years ahead. It’s a complex issue impacting all sectors of the economy including manufacturers.

Manufacturers are committed to decarbonization but any transition needs to be smooth and seamless. American manufacturers have reduced emissions by more than any sector since 1990 and are leading the way forward with new technologies and efficiencies.

There are concerns with elected officials, regulators, and special interest groups who are pushing for the complete elimination of natural gas as Illinois seeks to reduce carbon emissions. Technology like carbon capture and others need to be part of any solution.

Please join the IMA along with the state’s major utilities as we discuss the use of natural gas and the impact that mandates and new regulations may have on industry.

Participants include:

Ameren Illinois, Constellation, MidAmerican Energy, Nicor Gas, and Peoples Gas along with the Illinois Energy Association.
