Citing a national emergency under the International Emergency Powers Act, President Donald Trump recently announced a series of tariffs on imports from Canada, China, and Mexico. The tariffs were later paused on Canada and Mexico for thirty days which expires on March 4, 2025.
A later presidential announcement included imposition of Section 232 tariffs on all imported steel and aluminum to protect industries from unfair trade practices and global excess capacity with some limited exemptions.
