Now that we are getting more clarity on what OSHA may look like during a second Trump Administration, Illinois manufacturers should begin thinking about ways to position themselves for success over the next 3+ years. Join us for a webinar that will take a look at ways to prepare for and avoid OSHA inspections, when and why to engage OSHA defense counsel, and proactive steps that you can take with respect to recordkeeping, heat illness prevention, and machine safety. Last month, David Keeling, President Trump’s nominee to serve as Assistant Secretary of Labor (OSHA), appeared before the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, sharing details about how he would lead this agency by prioritizing 3 “straightforward and simple” goals, including: 

  • Modernize Regulatory Oversight and Rulemaking: plans to accelerate modernization & technological advancements 
  • Expand Public/Private Partnerships: expanding OSHA’s leadership and what to know about employer/employee collaborations 
  • Transform Enforcement: OSHA now has the ability to use existing data to greatly enhance on-site safety efforts through predictive analytics – what does that look like in your plant? 

Also last month, Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer told a House committee that OSHA will not scale back enforcement efforts even in light of OSHA’s proposed budget cuts. Secretary Chavez-DeRemer emphasized that members of OSHA and the DOL’s Wage and Hour Division are essential workers, and were not permitted to take advantage of the Department of Government Efficiency’s deferred resignation program offers.
