What is the Future of Gas in Illinois?

Energy and access to energy is a vital issue for manufacturers in Illinois. American manufacturers consume one-third of all energy generated in the United States so policy changes at the national or state level can have a profound impact on the industrial sector. As the IMA has reported over the past year, the Illinois Commerce Commission opened a series of workshops last March called “The Future of Gas” designed to “evaluate impacts of Illinois’ current decarbonization and electrification goals on the natural gas system.” 

Many IMA members are concerned about energy costs and efforts to ban or severely curtail the use of natural gas because it’s a safe, affordable, and reliable source of energy. Now that the ICC Future of Gas (FOG) Workshop is concluding Phase 2, join us for a discussion about what these meetings have covered, proposals on the table, next steps in the ICC process, and the potential impact on manufacturing in the state in this first of a series of relevant topics. 

The IMA is actively engaging in these workshops including testifying and arranging panels to discuss potential impacts on manufacturing. We invite you to join us for this timely update on the proceeding: 

•IMA's focus on Cost, Jobs & Economic Development, Reliability, Safety & Efficiency 

•An update from the gas companies about the FOG hearings and addressing supply & demand challenges and grid reliability 

•Share your input 

•Learn how you can engage with the IMA and your gas providers to engage in the workshops and also prepare for the future
